Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

honestly that gap between shipping and actually knowing the code is the part that sticks with me. imo personal projects where you write more of it by hand still help more than another full AI site when interviews come around.

Honesty is not always the best policy when interviewing! It depends on the role in question, but in general if I were you I'd talk up how you code by hand but then also had opportunities to augment your typical workflow with AI at this agency. You don't want to sound like you only ever coded with AI (nor like you wouldn't touch AI with a ten foot pole), but rather that you used your best judgment in deciding which approach to take for a project. You know, maybe talk about how AI is great for prototyping and templating, but you sweat the finer details by hand, for example. Keep going with the personal projects. Not only is it good experience for the interviews, but a decent portfolio will get eyes on your resume that you might not have gotten otherwise. Good luck!

I’ve been interviewing at other companies and they’re all asking about my coding experience at this agency. I keep getting rejected at my behavioral rounds when I go in depth on how I use AI to code. I think I might be shooting myself in the foot by mentioning it, but I’m not sure what the other option is. I could lie and say I coded by hand, but I’d struggle if I was grilled on it. I’ve been working on personal projects in the meantime just to brush up though.

Same. Every night after work in my usual boredom I contemplate starting a new personal project but it seems a waste of time. Any experienced developer using AI can build about anything now. All the fun has been take out of it. Awesome obviously if you have an idea for a business product. In this situation it must be exciting. But for personal projects it seems pointless.

So I have been both a UI / UX designer and frontend developer for around 25 years, initially starting off doing freelance stuff and personal projects but evolving into senior / lead level in 3 separate fields. My most recent job I spent 6 years at a startup going from software engineer to senior software engineer to creative lead covering all the visual design, UI, UX and frontend dev, as well as overseeing the agency work we had for marketing. The company rebranded last year, which myself and external agencies worked together on and produced a highly effective brand and redesign of the UI, leading to a 150% uptick in sales over a six month period post launch. Then, suddenly and without warning myself and the entire marketing team were made redundant, and now the company's socials are filled with AI. During the final stint of my work there, the tech lead has been leveraging Claude more and more, so my assumption is they convinced the company that they could just dump all the assets and branding guidelines into Claude to produce their marketing materials instead of paying for staff and agencies. And now I'm in the situation where the number of jobs available is shrinking rapidly, freelance work is almost nonexistent and my 25 years of experience in both design and development are being seen as less valuable than being able to prompt.
