Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

So I have been both a UI / UX designer and frontend developer for around 25 years, initially starting off doing freelance stuff and personal projects but evolving into senior / lead level in 3 separate fields. My most recent job I spent 6 years at a startup going from software engineer to senior software engineer to creative lead covering all the visual design, UI, UX and frontend dev, as well as overseeing the agency work we had for marketing. The company rebranded last year, which myself and external agencies worked together on and produced a highly effective brand and redesign of the UI, leading to a 150% uptick in sales over a six month period post launch. Then, suddenly and without warning myself and the entire marketing team were made redundant, and now the company's socials are filled with AI. During the final stint of my work there, the tech lead has been leveraging Claude more and more, so my assumption is they convinced the company that they could just dump all the assets and branding guidelines into Claude to produce their marketing materials instead of paying for staff and agencies. And now I'm in the situation where the number of jobs available is shrinking rapidly, freelance work is almost nonexistent and my 25 years of experience in both design and development are being seen as less valuable than being able to prompt.

Stop taking the next job. You just gave away two weeks of a Comp Sci degree holder's time for less than a week of UK minimum wage. The startup is exploiting your lack of business experience because you failed to agree on a rate before writing code, The startup is exploiting your lack of business experience because you failed to agree on a rate before writing code, not because your work was bad. If they try this again, walk away unless they sign a contract with a rate above £30/hr and pay 50% upfront.

Is this normal or not? - I was recently approached by a startup to fix a part of their website. I was tasked with fixing their homepage. Fixing it consisted of rewriting their html, js and css completely. In the end I added more than 5k lines of code easily. I implemented new things and they seemed to be really happy. It took me around 2 weeks (design + implementation). I also helped write the T&C and PP, added new vids and animations etc. This is the first time I have done something like this and was hoping to earn some money (not expecting anything big at all). They paid me £150 and acted like they did me a favour. Was I underpaid? They want to fix another one of their pages which will take an even longer time but I am not sure if it's worth it. Note: I have a BSc in Comp Sci from a London Uni, and already have some experienced (unpaid) EDIT: OMG guys I didn't realise how bad it was. WTF. For those asking yes I do have a degree from a London Uni in Comp Sci. I just didn't know how much people pay. Like some mentioned I was too excited about the opportunity and forgot to be realistic about what I am actually worth. I felt like they were doing me a favour. But tbh I did not expect 150. Welp guess Im going to have a word with them before doing the next part. I am really pissed off now.

This isn't CF wanted to acquire Deno. This is the Deno company wanted to be acquired by CF. They didn't have the money anymore. That's what happens with startups most of the time.

We, as humans, will always try to improve results and reduce cost. In any field. We have machines that raise buildings but decades ago it was PEOPLE that laid the stone, made the concrete mixture by hand... cars are being made by machines in "dark factories". With EV's now we don't have that much "mechanic" work, correct? Well... now we need more "electricians", developers for the software and systems for the sensors and even AI for the GPS, charging, etc... in a few years, who knows. That mechanic must ADAPT to keep the job... or not, it depends. How many are there in the area? If I lived on an island with 1000 people and I was the only mechanic I probably wouldnt even need to know what an EV is... unless everybody bought an EV. The thing is... it depends, but in the end, we have to adapt. You said you were 150, but how many would it needed to be 20 years ago? 200, 300? To set up network, to install basic windows, IT support, etc. Long before AI, every enterprise and startup was already trying to downsize, reduce costs, I mean... long before "AI" we had front end and back end dev, now everybody must be a fullstack, a 2 person job became 1. We will always look to improve and so should you. my 2 cents =)
