Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I mean kudos for listing out the steps, that's great. However, even very technical people can fail to check a website's offline status. Meanwhile websites change hands, get updated, and change policies so maybe what works great today doesn't work that way tomorrow.

Same for my (small) company. The gave us Claude Code accounts, I've been completing tickets about ten times faster, there's still plenty of work to do, and we just hired another dev literally today.

after. let's encrypt validates by fetching a file over the real domain, so the cert can only be issued once dns points at greengeeks. nameservers aren't the last step, they're second to last. the thing nobody mentioned: drop your dns TTL to 300 a day before you switch. default is often 24h, so if something breaks you're stuck with it for a day instead of five minutes. do it now, costs nothing. and your redirects can be written and tested today - relative paths in .htaccess don't care what the domain is. the old site also stays up during propagation, so you don't get a wall of 404s either way.

All of us "just use a VPS" folks are feeling so vindicated today. Never had a Postgres or MariaDB server that I control go down without resolution for hours on end :)

You tell your customers the truth: that your hosting provider went down and that you don't have redundancy in place to ensure your service continues running in such situations. If redundancy is important to your service, the best time to plan for this was before you deployed to production. The next best time is right now, today, while everything is down.
