Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Stop taking the next job. You just gave away two weeks of a Comp Sci degree holder's time for less than a week of UK minimum wage. The startup is exploiting your lack of business experience because you failed to agree on a rate before writing code, The startup is exploiting your lack of business experience because you failed to agree on a rate before writing code, not because your work was bad. If they try this again, walk away unless they sign a contract with a rate above £30/hr and pay 50% upfront.

You can't be fucking serious about this. Respectfully, are you actually a UK resident who studied in London? Because this story sounds absurd. Yeah, obviously 150 pounds is WAY TOO LITTLE. The minimum wage in the UK is £12.71 per hour. Assuming a 40 hour work week, that would be £1016.18. Note that this is the MINIMUM wage for basically unskilled labor. Anyone with a university degree is going to make significantly more than that. And freelance workers obviously take hourly rates that are substantially higher than regular wages, since you have a lot of extra taxes and costs if you are self employed. The only way that your story would make even a tiny bit of sense is if you live in some third world country. Because i refuse to believe that someone who has lived in England for at least 3 years doesn't understand that £150 is a joke.

Underpaid by a lot, but that’s on you for not quoting them upfront. You should be making an estimate for them before work begins and taking a deposit usually between 20% and 50% of the total before you do any work. Make sure you put terms in the contract and get them to sign it. Lines of code written doesn’t matter just your time. If you think it will take 20 hours of work then quote them for 20 hours at whatever your rate is. I’m not familiar with the UK market but I don’t think it would be unreasonable for someone with your experience to be charging $20-40 CAD an hour. For reference, I’m in Canada with 20 years of experience and for freelance work I charge $70-$150 CAD an hour and that’s on the low end of what experienced developers are charging.

In the UK, freelance rates usually sit around £30 to £50 an hour for mid level, £60 to £90 for experienced, and £100+ for specialists, with day rates roughly £250 to £700. Agencies typically charge two to three times those figures, and London adds a premium on top. Most freelancers quote fixed price per project instead: a simple brochure site runs £1.5k to £4k, ecommerce or custom builds £5k to £15k, and web apps £20k+. The number depends far more on scope and who you hire than on any national average.

How much do web developers charge in the UK - Hello, I am relatively new to web development as a career but I have been learning on my own since 2022 and have only now decided to make full use of it. So far I’ve created 2 websites but these are for free and for family members, the only payment is they’ll help me network and gain more clients. I am curious how much web developers charge clients within the UK for a front end business website with about 10 pages. All I use for now is HTML, CSS and Bootstrap but I manage to make it responsive across all devices.
