Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

2012 and Verizon had the iPhone 4 for $200 deal. So many people were waiting to Verizon to get it. Before that it was only on AT&T. There were more apps in 2012 too

You say "despite us being well older than the target age for new pop music" but girls generation's gee was released in 2009 and gangam style came out in 2012. Very much during millennial years. I still regularly go to punk shows, post hardcore, death metal, you name it. I also love kpop but pretty much only girl groups and a few solo artists and I pretty much don't listen to newer stuff. There's a bunch of bops in the 2010s though, I was a big fan of Hyuna. Personally, a lot of my music taste was probably developed when I was a child and teenager but that taste is very much everything and anything but country(and mostly modern country at that). But I always listen to and check out new stuff and always will. I will say I am a musician/engineer so maybe it's a bit different. Two of my most recent vinyl purchases are the new protest the hero album and the party in the USA 7" lmao. I always liked the early kpop stuff because to me it sounded like nsync and Britney again almost like it was the same producers and I really liked the beats and feels of the songs. I think for a lot of us it's an easy path from jrock/jpop as well which most of us probably already went down that path from anime in the 90s and early 2000s with things like toonami and adult swim and general early internet communities or cons.

Has anyone else thought about quitting streaming? - Recently I decided to cancel all, but one of my streaming services because I am tired of having to stream shows and pay a subscription fee/purchase content to rent or "own". I'm still trying to part ways with Netflix, but I have been a subscriber since 2012. It's hard to let go lol. I probably save about $40 a month (hulu, Disney, Amazon Prime) without streaming services and I feel like I enjoy watching TV more. Between my stack of DVDs and free apps like Tubi and Pluto TV, I always find something to watch. Most of the content is more nostalgic/classic based as well. I don't use the on demand in the free apps as much, but rather the "Live TV" option. It makes me feel like I'm back in the late 90s/early 2000s, including the content on live TV. It is nice because I have also started to remember programming schedules like we used to do back in the day. I know which channels to tune into at what time to see shows I want to watch. I don't know. I just feel less stressed and being able to just relax and watch "what's on" or play a movie from one of my DVDs. It's a small win for me and I was wondering if others have done or are considering the same thing? Edit: I know self-hosting is becoming a thing, so I might also create my own jellyfin server"

I first got into it in maybe 2012 when I saw a video of Crayon Pop in helmets and tracksuits. I thought their music and attire was ridiculous in an entertaining way, so I went down the Kpop rabbit hole and got into the more R&B/hip hop-influenced artists. Then that lead me to the variety show aspect of idol culture. I’m not really into this gen’s music (New Jeans would be the exception), but I still watch some of the variety stuff for groups I casually follow even if I think their music is mid.
