Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I feel you man... I got out of the Navy in 2010 and I was ready to really start my life and have a somewhat uneventful but gratifying life. Wife ended up divorcing me because I worked too much. Made no real money off the house I bought right before the market collapsed. Every time I made more money or got a better job the economy just seemed to negate that. Finally had back issues that got bad enough I started over and went back to college. It's got to the point that I don't even care and withdraw money out of my 401k not even caring what the penalties are because I don't think I'll live long enough to actually care or enjoy it.

My pop used to say "if you're not part of the 1% you're the working poor like the rest of us" and I have found him to be ironically right. You can be like me in a LCOL space making a nice penny off your work, with a house, a really decent 401k and $30k in the bank and you are still a major accident or cancer diagnosis away from being totally and completely f*cked.

If you got a lot of disposable income then I would figure out ways to invest it to get passive income. Sure stocks or 401ks are good investments long term but there’s other ways to generate additional income. Just sticking to a salary isn’t the smartest way to build your wealth yet so many especially Americans only have that one source of income then their only investments is their 401k or a house hopefully they paid off. Personally I think the purpose of life is to experience as much as you can and be social. You can’t exactly do that locked in a 9-5 job with sporadic vacations.

Went back to school and got my MBA at 32. Went from supply chain making 82+ bonus to 107k plus a lot better bonus moving over to the energy sector. Ten years later and it’s the best decision I could have made for myself. Now making well over 200k with a 401k and a pension. Invest in yourself and make the move sooner rather than later.
