My high school girlfriends family would often buy goods including furniture, quilts, etc. from the Amish in PA. EVERYTHING they purchased was excellent quality! I even got to drive in a car sitting next to an Amish woman once. She just hopped right in when we were all going to her relatives to pick something up that was being worked on. LOL!

I live about an hour and a half north of Ohio Amish country. We'd make trips down to just so my carpenter dad could oogle Amish furniture. My parents felt that they made it when they could afford to buy an Amish made bedroom set. 25+ years later it's still my mom's bedroom set (dad moved into my old room because his snoring annoyed mom). I'd personally love to have an Amish made rocking chair, but I will only buy it second hand and not from the Amish community.

I've never given Amish anything a thought, but I'm also on the west coast so I'm a LONG way from them. As much as I enjoy woodworking, I'd still rather most of my furniture be made from metal and glass rather than wood of any type.
