   Definitely the library! Also go to trivia, open mic, bingo whatever is near you; sit at the bar and talk to people. If you have neighbors interact with them more. Some of our best friends are our neighbors across the street!

   Not arguing that meeting people, particularly close friends or potential significant others, isn't harder than it's ever been. Just showing that there are still places out there. I went out to a distillery/bar last night and met some lovely people from my local community. We hit it off, and one older gentlemen bought several of us a round of shots shortly before the place closed. I had a fantastic time. Now I'll admit alcohol helps me to be more social. But there are places out there. I have also thought about joining some meetup groups from one of the larger cities nearby.

   I hang out at a local bar and have bar friends there (i.e., I wouldn't hang out with them outside of the bar, but they're fun in that setting). I also started playing pickleball and joined a lowkey neighborhood country club to meet people.

   Go to bar, find one with the vibe you like and just keep going. Note not a corporate you need something where the bartender has been there for 10 years or so, regulars bus tables, etc. But you have to talk to people. It may take some time, you can't start trama dumping on random people, light plesent conversation to start with, just a 5 minute conversation is a good start.

   Having friends and meeting people is one of those things that's much easier when you have at least 1 person already. If you go to a bar with a friend, it's not too difficult to meet other people to talk to. I'm a guy and the easiest thing to do is go durring a sport you like with your buddy and you can pretty quickly make friends with the other fans. The people I see having real trouble are unfortunately the ones who are simply awkward or not fun to be around. I'm willing to talk to anyone and can find common ground with basically any person I meet. The quiet introverts are some of my closest friends so don't take that to mean being an introvert makes you unfun or awkward. It doesn't. If you are a guy, being unwilling to go to a bar and watch sports, will limit your friend group options significantly. But that's my piece of advice to anyone asking how to meet people in a new place. Alcohol is a social lubricant and makes making connections much easier. It's a hard truth. Look inward and see what you need to improve or be more willing to do if you aren't able to make connections in places like that.
