   I knew what I wanted to do at 16, work on rockets or space stuff. Took 6 years to finish school because my dad was dying of cancer for one year and I took that off. I worked engineering in defense, then about 7 years ago moved into the space field. I also joined the military as a reservist for benifits and I've been sent to Hawaii and currently Europe. Paid off my student loans 10yrs after graduating. Life is good.

   That was true of previous generations, Millenials care far more and don’t mind these topics anywhere near like Boomers did. Your anecdotal experiences are not fact. Ive been blue collar working on job sites or in shops all my life, and we absolutely talk about skin care, longevity, sun exposure, and all of these self care topics a LOT more than 20 years ago. Go to Target and other retail stores like it and look at how giant the men’s section is these days. Just 10 years ago we barely had anything for men; it was all focused on women. Yes, there are still folks that think the way you talk about, but they aren’t successfully shaming anymore. We laugh when the Boomers make fun of us. And we get pretty brutal when they try and make fun of us. To the point where they typically just mind their own business as we talk about beard oils, moisturizers, covering our skin so we don’t get cancer, wearing gloves, wearing respirators…. We talk about self care casually.

   Love my kiddos. They’re almost 15 and 11. That being said, my parents lied to me about a stupidly rare genetic disease that got worse after I had them(before the kids 3 surgeries-after I’m up to 27) increased risk of cancer(first cancer dx though just yeeted my boobs at 38) 50/50 chance one or both my kids had it. Unfortunately they both have it. Started surgeries at 11. Neither kid has had any surgeries. I’ve told both kids don’t have any kids. Most woman die young. Oldest is like 54 around death.

   How long until we find out they were completely laced with something that caused cancer and we get our huge settlement check? And yes i used to eat them like gum when i was kid lol, i remember actually liking them

   Ive grown up with analog and digital and as such I have deepdived a lot online. I try to raise my son ready for the 4th industrial revolution. I notice what you mention, but Im going another direction with him. I give a fuckton of love. I want him to read real books, I give him the classics from a young age. I explain that the world is full of all sorts of people; liars, manipulators, dumb people and sellouts that all just want money and power. And that ads want your money and are a cancer. I tell him just cause people are older or an adult it doesn't mean anything they say is correct, smart or wise. I taught him how to shittalk online. I learn him to always go forward no matter what obstacle is in his way. I teach him the world despite all its faults is worth fighting for to make it an even better place. I teach him discipline, empathy and self confidence. The later is difficult without the fairy tales, because not everything is trustworthy, but I know it saves him more pain of delusion along the way. I tell him I'm flawed and I as a father also make mistakes and am not always right. Most of all I joke around and develop his sense of humor. That and a shitton of math without pen and paper. Gaming is fine, if he wants to game longer he has to beat his father.
