   My intent was not to minimize the suffering of the Jewish people. I know a little bit more than "people died" but I am not an expert on the Holocaust. The way the lobsters are huddled together reminded me a lot of the way the people were huddled together in pictures I've seen of the place and it gave me the same sick, hopeless feeling. No, the lobsters aren't being actively tortured or tested on or killed in the tanks but they're given the absolute bare minimum, just enough to not die so they can live in shackles until a power they can't possibly hope to stand against decides it's their turn to go to some other unknown place to be boiled alive. Imagining that from their perspective is pretty awful and I think if they could communicate with us and anyone cared to listen, I think interviews of grocery store tank survivors might look and sound a lot like the interviews I've seen of human survivors. Idk. Maybe I've seen too many Pixar movies and value animal lives too much. Out of curiosity, how would you rewrite my metaphor without losing the meaning?

   Yeah I could be wrong but if I remember right part of the reason not many of these are around anymore is because people would get sick due to unclean and poorly maintained live lobster tanks

   I loved watching the lobsters. I asked my mom to go to the grocery store to look at the lobsters enough that she bought me a crayfish as a pet and told me it was a baby lobster.

   Did lobster suddenly go extinct I just said hello to the last ones today!?
